The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) appointed Andie Fong Toy as its first woman Deputy Secretary-General.
Prior to her appointment, Fong Toy served as Director of the Political Governance and Security Programme of PIFS, as well as its International Legal Adviser.
2 June 2011: The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) welcomed the appointment of Andie Fong Toy, its first woman Deputy Secretary General. The Forum Secretariat underlined that Fong Toy brings to PIF extensive experience on Pacific legal issues, election observation missions and understanding of regional and international issues.
Fong Toy served as Director for PIFS’ Political Governance and Security Programme until 2008. Prior to her appointment as Director, she also served the Secretariat as International Legal Adviser, and Legal and Political Officer. Fong Toy’s predecessor as Deputy Secretary General was Peter Forau. Forau’s term ended in March 2011. [PIFS Press Release]
