PIFS, Taiwan Discuss Development Assistance

Taiwan announced US$500,000 for the support of eight regional organizations in 2012, and confirmed continued support for a scholarship scheme.

9 September 2011: The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) convened the 19th Taiwan Forum Countries Dialogue to discuss Taiwan’s continued support to several Pacific Island Countries (PICs). The meeting was held on 9 September 2011, in Auckland, New Zealand.

The meeting was attended by representatives of PICs maintaining diplomatic relations with Taiwan, including Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu. Participants discussed the outcomes of Taiwan’s development assistance to the Pacific and the Taiwan Pacific Islands Forum Scholarship Scheme.
