PIFS12 December 2012: The Pacific Island Forum Secretariat (PIFS) has launched a web portal for the review of the Pacific Plan for Strengthening Regional Cooperation and Integration.

The website allows stakeholders to submit comments and provides background information on the Pacific Plan, the terms of reference for the review and the review process. It will also serve as portal for communication between the public and the review team.

The Pacific Plan provides a high-level framework that guides the work of national governments, regional agencies and development partners in support of national action by PIFS Member States. It was endorsed by PIFS Leaders in October 2005 as a living document that would be reviewed periodically to adapt to the changing needs of PIFS countries. The first review was carried out in 2009.

The current review aims to better define the objectives of the Plan, assess its effectiveness, and ensure it remains the key driver or regional cooperation efforts for integration and cooperation over the next decade. The review also will assess the relationship between the Pacific Plan, the post-2015 global development agenda, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to identify opportunities to further align the Pacific Plan with the international development agenda.
