March 2011: The Boston University Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future has published a report titled “Beyond Rio+20: Governance for a Green Economy.” The report summarizes the ideas shared by a task force of experts convened to discuss the role of institutions in actualizing a green economy in the context of sustainable development.

The report includes chapters by experts from academia, government and civil society that outline ideas about what the world has learned about institutions for sustainable development, and what can be proposed regarding governance challenges and opportunities for the continuous development of a green economy. The report includes essays written by each of the experts on the Pardee Center Task Force, including on accountability in the green economy by Mark Halle (IISD), and climate and energy by Saleemul Huq (International Center for Climate Change and Development).

The Task Force Report was distributed at the second session of the Preparatory Committee (PrepCom II) for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), which took place from 7-8 March 2011, in New York, US. [Publication: Beyond Rio +20: Governance for a Green Economy]
