OSCE Chair Discusses Cooperation with UN for Sustainable Development

The Chair of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) told the UN Security Council that cooperation was needed between the UN and the OSCE to generate sustainable development.

15 February 2011: The Chair of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) briefed the UN Security Council and called for closer cooperation between the bodies to generate sustainable development, among other goals.

Audronius Ažubalis, Minister of Foreign Affairs for Lithuania, called for closer cooperation between the OSCE and the UN to expand peace, advance human rights, generate sustainable development and build a safer world. He said the priorities for his chairship included enhancing the OSCE’s role in the area of energy security.

The OSCE is comprised of 56 member States from North America, Europe, Central Asia, and East Asia. [UN Press Release]
