The UN Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS), in collaboration with Nosh Nalavala, MediaGlobal, has published a SIDS Special Issue of 'The Commitment,' with a focus on “Genuine and Durable Partnerships for Small Islands Developing States” (SIDS), which is also the theme of the Third International Conference on SIDS, convening on 1-4 September 2014 in Apia, Samoa.
September 2014: The UN Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS), in collaboration with Nosh Nalavala, MediaGlobal, has published a SIDS Special Issue of ‘The Commitment,’ with a focus on “Genuine and Durable Partnerships for Small Islands Developing States” (SIDS). The focus is also the theme of the Third International Conference on SIDS, convening on 1-4 September 2014 in Apia, Samoa.
The publication’s summer 2014 edition contains six interviews: Fostering Private Sector Partnerships in SIDS, with Gyan Chandra Acharya, OHRLLS Under Secretary-General; The Business of Climate Change Solutions, with the Carbon War Room; Bringing Disaster Risk Reduction into the Boardroom, with Margareta Wahlström, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction; Uniting to Solve Island Challenges, with Ronald Jumeau, Seychelles Ambassador for Climate Change and SIDS Issues; Connecting Communities in Samoa, with Fia’ailetoa Pepe Christan Fruean, Chief Executive Officer, Digicel Samoa; and Pacific Islands Continue to Attract Tourism in the Face of Challenges, with Ilisoni Vuidreketi, Chief Executive Officer, South Pacific Tourism Organisation.
The publication also includes articles on supporting low-income homes in the Pacific and other topics.
