UNOCHA15 April 2013: The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has reported that, through its Emergency Response Fund, it has successfully provided access to clean water and sanitation facilities for displaced communities in and around Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in Pakistan.

According to OCHA, families were displaced from Pakistan’s north-west agricultural area of Bara, in the Federally-Administered Tribal Areas last year, and many displaced families lacked access to clean water and sanitation. Through the International Rescue Committee, US$250,000 was spent on installing a water pump allowing water to be drawn from the well, as well as constructing a latrine and distributing hygiene kits to families.
