6 February 2013: The Natural Resources Forum, a UN Sustainable Development Journal, has issued a call for papers for a special issue on “Sustainable Development in Small Island Developing States (SIDS),” to be published in February 2014.

NRF is a quarterly journal published by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), Division for Sustainable Development (DSD).

The issue will focus on possible policy responses to the vulnerability and development needs of SIDS. Articles with a sustainable development perspective will be prioritized. NRF suggests that topics could include: integrated planning and integrated strategies; sustainability of tourism; management of non-renewable resources; cross-country analyses of specific dimensions of sustainable development relevant to SIDS; and vulnerability-resilience framework for self-assessment of progress towards sustainable development.

According to NRF, the Special Issue is announced on the occasion of the UN Conference for Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) call for the convening of an international conference on SIDS in 2014. [NRF Call for Papers]
