Norway has announced it will provide US$258 million to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) over the next four years, bringing the total amount pledged to the GCF to US$9.95 billion and closer to the GCF Pledging Conference's goal of US$10 billion.

In a press release, Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Børge Brende, said the GCF “can play a key role in reaching a global climate agreement in Paris in 2015,” noting the Fund is expected to be one of the main funding sources for both mitigation and adaptation measures in developing countries.
