Nominations Open for 2012 MIDORI Prize for Biodiversity

Organized by the AEON Environmental Foundation and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) with the support of the Ministry of Environment of Japan, the MIDORI Prize for Biodiversity is a biennial international prize that honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity at global, regional or local levels.

The period for nominations extends from 1 March – 30 June 2012.

1 March 2012: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has reported that nominations for the 2012 MIDORI Prize for Biodiversity are now open. Organized by the AEON Environmental Foundation and CBD Secretariat with the support of the Ministry of Environment of Japan, the MIDORI Prize for Biodiversity is a biennial international prize that honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity at global, regional or local levels.

The period for nominations extends from 1 March – 30 June 2012. Applications will be judged based on: international contribution; contribution to conservation and sustainable use; social contribution; long-term viewpoints/continuity; creativity/originality; civic mindedness/broad viewpoints; and efficacy/influence.
