NGLS Newsletter Features Second Civil Society Consultation for GSP

The UN Non-Governmental Liaison Service conducted a 10-day civil society consultation to provide input to the UN Secretary-General's High-level Panel on Global Sustainability (GSP).

The input was compiled into two summary reports, one on sustainable development policy and employment, and the other on select sustainable development governance topics including a UN Sustainable Development Council (SDC) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

December 2011: The third issue of the UN Non-Governmental Liaison Service’s (UN-NGLS) “Road to Rio” e-newsletter highlights, among many other updates, a 10-day civil society consultation conducted by UN-NGLS in November 2011 to provide input to the UN Secretary-General’s High-level Panel on Global Sustainability (GSP).

The input was compiled into two summary reports, one on sustainable development policy and employment, the acceleration of gender equality, sustainable economic policy, and indicators beyond Gross Domestic Product (GDP); and the other on select sustainable development governance topics including a UN Sustainable Development Council (SDC), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and national and sub-national sustainable development governance.

The newsletter also features interviews with: the Executive Director of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) Babatunde Osotimehin; Juergen Maier, Executive Director of the German NGO Forum on Environment and Development (Forum Umwelt & Entwicklung); and Michael K. Dorsey, Dartmouth College’s Climate Justice Research Project. [Publication: The Road to Rio, Issue 3]
