New Zealand, Pacific Community Sign 10-Year Pact

The Government of New Zealand and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) signed a partnership arrangement for 2014-2024, under which the SPC will take on long-term development initiatives in the areas of fisheries, agriculture, statistics, geoscience, public health and capacity building.

spc-newzealand9 December 2014: The Government of New Zealand and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) signed a partnership arrangement for 2014-2024, under which the SPC will take on long-term development initiatives in the areas of fisheries, agriculture, statistics, geoscience, public health and capacity building.

In a press release, the SPC reports that the new arrangement gives SPC more certainty to pursue ambitious and lasting development programmes. SPC Director-General Colin Tukuitonga added that “supporting sustainable growth in the Pacific is a marathon, not a sprint.”
