New OECD Book Outlines Green Development Capacity Building
story highlights

This book investigates how developing countries and their development partners can integrate environmental issues into national development plans, budgets, and key economic sectors.

2 February 2012: The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has released a book titled “Greening Development: Enhancing Capacity for Environmental Management,” which outlines principles and steps for “greening” national development planning, national budgetary processes and key economic sector strategies.

The book aims to provide policy guidance for both developing countries aiming to shift towards more green development, and their development cooperation partners. It contains chapters on: understanding the greening of development; greening national development planning processes; greening national budget processes; greening key economic sectors; and capacity for development support providers.

For each of these chapters, the book identifies key actors needed for decision making processes, suggests potential areas for capacity building and identifies how to address these areas.
