June 2010: The Preparatory Commission for the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has published its third newsletter, primarily discussing IRENA’s coming entry into force on 8 July 2010.

The newsletter includes a welcome message from Interim Director-General Hélène Pelosse noting that the speed of signatory States’ ratification of IRENA illustrates the global importance given to its mandate to promote renewable energy. The newsletter also introduces the IRENA staff, which is thus far composed of 41 people from 26 nationalities, with 52% being female. It goes on to discuss other IRENA related news events and announces that the fourth IRENA preparatory Commission will meet on 24-25 October 2010, in Abu Dhabi. [The newsletter]
