NEPAD Meeting Focuses on Programme Delivery

Participants at the 24th meeting of the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee (HSGOC) heard an activity report focused on the achievements in the roll-out of NEPAD programmes and projects in the thematic areas of, inter alia, agriculture, climate change and natural resource management.

29 January 2011: The 24th meeting of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee (HSGOC) took place on the margins of the 16th African Union (AU) Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 29 January 2011.

Ibrahim Mayaki, NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NEPAD Agency) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), presented an activity report focused on the achievements in the roll-out of NEPAD programmes and projects in the thematic areas of, inter alia: agriculture, climate change and natural resource management; and the cross-cutting issues of gender, capacity development and information and communication technologies. He underscored that some challenges remain for the Agency “to deliver more fully on programme delivery, particularly around the provision of technical and financial resources for the Agency.” [AU Press Release] [NEPAD Meeting Website]
