Multimedia Presentation Highlights Sustainable Mountain Development in Andes

The presentation contains information and policy recommendations on sustainable mountain development, and features: the Andes and its main features; policy recommendations for action by the Andes; and a timeline of regional and global agreements, summits, events, treaties and instruments influencing initiatives, policies and institutional frameworks for sustainable development in the Andes.

20 November 2012: The Mountain Partnership has announced the production of a multimedia presentation on sustainable mountain development (SMD) in the Andes. “The Andes and the future we need” was produced by the Consortium for Sustainable Development of the Andean Ecoregion (CONDESAN) with support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Mountain Partnership (Decentralized Hub of Latin America).

The presentation was launched during a regional workshop in Lima, Peru, on 12-14 November 2012, on the topic “Sustainable Mountain Development: Building the future we need.” The workshop took place in follow-up to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).

The presentation is organized into chapters on: the Andes and its main features; policy recommendations for action by the Andes; and a timeline of regional and global agreements, summits, events, treaties and instruments influencing initiatives, policies and institutional frameworks for sustainable development in the Andes.
