5 August 2010: The Vienna International Model UN (VIMUN) conference, which took place at the Vienna International Centre in Austria from 2-5 August 2010, simulated the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors Meeting discussion of the topic “Atoms for Food: Against Growing Food Insecurity in the Light of Climate Change.”

Over 200 students participated in the VIMUN, with students meeting with experts and learning about UN initiatives such as Atoms for Food, which teaches nuclear techniques to increase harvests and combat disease in over 100 countries. [IAEA Press Release] [Atoms for Food Partnership]
