The May issue of the Quarterly Newsletter of the International Association For Bear Research and Management and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Bear Specialist Group (BSG) is available online.

May 2011: The May issue of the Quarterly Newsletter of the International Association For Bear Research and Management and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Bear Specialist Group (BSG) is available online.

This issue features articles on: molecular genetic evidence supporting reintroduction programs of the Asiatic Black Bear in South Korea; research updates on Asiatic Black Bears in Kashmir, India; an EU LIFE-Nature project to reduce the number of bears killed on highways in Greece; and the development of a conservation strategy for the Andean Bear in Machu Picchu, Peru.

It also discusses the increase in the population of brown bears in Trentino, Italy, and a bear-proof fence experiment in the Changtang grassland on the Tibetan Plateau in China.
