18 June 2009: The Joint Implementation (JI) Supervisory Committee (JISC) has released the report of its 16th meeting, which convened from 17-18 June 2009, at the UN Campus in Bonn, Germany, and considered issues related to the functioning of JI.

At the meeting, the JISC considered matters relating to the accreditation of independent entities, and agreed to accredit Bureau Veritas Certification Holding SAS for the determination and verification functions in specific sectoral scopes.
Regarding the development of a determination and verification manual (DVM), the JISC considered the first DVM draft prepared by the Secretariat, the summary of public inputs into the DVM, and the summary of inputs on the first draft DVM from the participants of the roundtable consultations held immediately prior to JISC16. On the next steps to take regarding the DVM, the JISC decided to prepare a second draft, organize a call for public inputs on the second draft and subsequently prepare a third draft. Other issues discussed at the meeting included: the development of definitions, forms, guidelines and procedures for projects under the JI programmes of activities; the JI management plan and resources for the work on JI; and collaboration of the JISC with others. On preparations for the UNFCCC technical workshop on JI, the Secretariat provided an update on its preparations, including a date change to 8-9 September 2009.
