The JI Supervisory Committee (JISC) held its 37th meeting from 29-30 September 2015 in Bonn, Germany, to consider matters relating to the governance of the JI mechanism. During the meeting, the JISC also agreed to its annual report to the 11th session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 11). This annual report covers JI activities carried out between 17 September 2014 and 30 September 2015; and describes the status of the JI mechanism and recommends action for consideration by the CMP. The JISC also requested the UNFCCC Scretariat to include the outcomes of this meeting in the report and finalize it in consultation with the JISC Chair and Vice-Chair.

The JISC also agreed to allow designated operational entities (DOEs) accredited under the accreditation rules of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) to act voluntarily as accredited independent entities (AIEs) under JI. It also agreed to rely on the CDM accreditation system for all accreditation functions, while taking measures to safeguard environmental integrity, and to implement this, the JISC agreed, inter alia, that: the effective date of relying on the CDM accreditation system shall be 2 August 2016; and that it will no longer accept applications for initial accreditation or reaccreditation as an AIE, from 30 September 2015 onward.
