gwp-iwmi-wmo23 September 2014: The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Global Water Partnership (GWP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) are developing the South Asia Drought Monitoring System (SA-DMS) to help predict drought severity in the region.

Part of the joint GWP/WMO Integrated Drought Management Program, the SA-DMS will integrate satellite vegetation images, soil moisture levels, crop yield information and weather data, all key indicators for drought in the region. This will give users advanced warning and enable them to adapt to the possibility of drought and reduce disaster risk. [IWMI Press Release]
