March 2009: The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will hold its third Symposium on Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and Climate Change from 8-10 July 2009, in Quito, Ecuador.
The Symposium is part of ITU’s initiative on ICTs and climate change, and is expected to bring together key ICT industry specialists to discuss various issues relevant to climate change mitigation, including: ICT policy frameworks; mitigation in the ICT sector and mitigation in other sectors using ICTs; climate monitoring; adaptation to climate change; ICTs and emergencies; and financing solutions to climate change. The Symposium will also be transmitted through several academic networks, as well as through a webinar. Proceedings of the Symposium will be made available on the ITU website.
