ITU Analyzes Energy Efficiency of ICT Device Power Supplies
story highlights

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has released “An Energy-aware Survey on ICT Device Power Supplies,” which outlines the results of an analysis of a set of commercially available external power supplies (EPSs), with the aim, among other things, of determining their energy efficiency and assisting the standardization activities within the ITU Study Group 5 on Environment and Climate Change.

September 2012: The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has released results of “An Energy-aware Survey on ICT Device Power Supplies,” a study on Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) commissioned by ITU and the Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI).

The report outlines the results of an analysis of a set of commercially available external power supplies (EPSs), with the aim, among other things, of determining their energy efficiency and assisting in standardization activities within the ITU Study Group 5 on Environment and Climate Change. The report analyses and classifies the EPSs according to their electrical and physical characteristics, and also analyzes their energy efficiency.

The report was launched at the second ITU Green Standards Week held in Paris, France , from 17-21 September 2012. [Publication: An Energy-aware Survey on ICT Device Power Supplies] [IISD RS Story on the Second ITU Green Standards Week]
