ITTO Welcomes Support for Programme on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade

The International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) will use the funding to support the thematic programme on on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade, which supports member countries in the regulation of supply chains and the improved governance of tropical timber trade.

18 December 2012: The International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) announced the contribution of AUS$2,000,000 by the Australian Government to support the thematic programme on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (TFLET).

The funding will support projects to enhance national forest law enforcement and governance within ITTO member countries, including improving the transparency and effective management of tropical timber supply chains from sustainably managed forests.

The funding will also help member countries implement international and regional level commitments relating to forest governance and combating illegal logging and illegal timber trade.

The next round of proposals for projects under the TFLET programme will be accepted in early 2013. [ITTO Press Release]
