IRENA Council Discusses Administrative Issues

The Council discussed the post of Deputy Director-General, held a roundtable discussion on the IRENA Work Programme, and agreed on the membership and terms of reference of the Agency's three committees.

12 July 2011: During a meeting held from 10-11 July 2011, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Council discussed the establishment of committees, privileges and immunities, and the appointment of its deputy director general.

The Council elected the Australia to Chair the meeting, the Republic of Korea as Vice-Chair, and appointed Antigua and Barbuda as Rapporteur. Director General Adnan Amin reported on administrative activities and measures to strengthen management and administration of IRENA, as well as the implementation of the 2011 Work Programme.

The Council discussed the post of Deputy Director General, held a roundtable discussion on the IRENA Work Programme, and agreed on the membership and terms of reference of the Agency’s three committees on: finance; governance and legal; and policy and strategy. The Council agreed to forward discussion on the draft General Agreement on Privileges and Immunities to the Governance and Legal Committee.
