Rajendra_pachauriThe Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Secretariat has posted the draft agenda and other details on its website for its upcoming 28th session. In letters addressed to IPCC focal points and to relevant organizations, dated 5 February 2008, IPCC Secretary Renate Christ, on behalf of IPCC Chair Rajendra Pachauri, provides details of the venue and focus of the session, which is scheduled for 9-10 April 2008, in Budapest, Hungary.

The
letters state that the focus of the meeting will be on the future of
the IPCC, including key aspects of the IPCC’s work programme and the
future structure of the Bureau and of the Task Force Bureau on the
National Greenhouse Gas Inventories Programme.
The IPCC will
also be invited to consider a possible Special Report on renewable
energy, the finalization of a technical paper on climate change and
water, and a proposal for the use of the funds resulting from the Nobel
Peace Prize According to the provisional annotated agenda, the session
will also consider its programme and budget for 2009-2011, review the
IPCC “principles,” and discuss the admission of observer organizations,
outreach and progress reports from various sub-groups.
The
Panel will also consider the time and place of its 29th session, which
is currently scheduled for 1-4 September 2008, in Geneva, Switzerland.
