IPCC Holds Expert Meeting on Renewable Energy

February 2010: The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group (WG) III held an expert meeting on renewable energy from 1 -2 February 2010, in Washington DC, US.
The meeting was organized in preparation of the Special Report on Renewable Energy Sources and Climate Mitigation (SRREN), which is due in early 2011. Representatives of the international business community and NGOs participated in this expert meeting and provided comments on the first-order draft of the Special Report. As the SRREN is now undergoing expert review, participants’ comments will feed into the next lead author meeting, which is scheduled to take place in March 2010, in Oxford, UK. In addition, documentation on the expert meeting will be provided within the progress report of WG III for the IPCC Bureau meeting, which will take place from 19-20 May 2010, in Geneva, Switzerland.
