January 2009: The first Lead Author Meeting for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on Renewable Energy Sources and Climate Change Mitigation (SRREN) will be hosted by the Brazilian Government, and will convene from 26-30 January 2009, in São José dos Campos, São Paulo state, Brazil.

In a decision made at its 28th session, held in Budapest, Hungary, from 9-10 April 2008, the Panel approved the development of the SRREN under the responsibility of Working Group III (Mitigation of Climate Change). To facilitate the process of report writing and review, four Lead Author meetings will be organized, beginning with the January meeting in Brazil. The Panel is expected to finalize the Special Report in the second half of 2010.
