14 November 2012: The International Network on Small Hydropower (INSHP) has released its November 2012 newsletter. This issue of the newsletter includes articles on: the INSHP annual conference; the first World Small Hydropower (SHP) Development Report; and updates on small hydropower (SHP) activities globally, including in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas.

The INSHP Annual Work Report Conference of INSHP members and directors was held in Zhangye, China, on 22 September 2012. The conference aimed to identify methods to promote the development of small hydropower in China and other countries.

According to the newsletter, the International Centre on Small Hydro Power (ICSHP) serves as the Secretariat of the upcoming World SHP Development Report. The report aims to provide a global overview of the status of SHP, thereby informing SHP practitioners, policy- and decision-makers, and investors on the opportunities that SHP can offer. The report is being peer-reviewed, and is expected to be released later this year.

INSHP is an international organization with 400 members from 78 countries, headquartered at the ICSHP. ICSHP is a public non-profit institution directly under the auspices of the UN Industrial and Development Organization (UNIDO) and China’s Ministry of Water Resources and Ministry of Commerce.
