International Expert Workshop Discusses Conceptual Framework of IPBES

The Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) has released the report of the 'Expert Workshop on the Conceptual Framework for IPBES,' which was held from 25-26 August 2013 and convened by the Multidisciplinary Expert Panel (MEP) at the request of the first IPBES Plenary and co-hosted by South Africa and the United Kingdom, with additional support from Japan.

IPbesSeptember 2013: The Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) has released the report of the ‘Expert Workshop on the Conceptual Framework for IPBES,’ which was held from 25-26 August 2013 and convened by the Multidisciplinary Expert Panel (MEP) at the request of the first IPBES Plenary and co-hosted by South Africa and the United Kingdom, with additional support from Japan.

According to the published report, the workshop focused on the elements of the conceptual framework and the relationship between the conceptual framework and the functions of the Platform. The outcomes of the workshop informed the MEP discussions on the conceptual framework, and the draft conceptual framework for IPBES, as reflected in document IPBES/2/4, will be recommended by the MEP to the second session of the IPBES Plenary to be held in Antalya, Turkey, 9-14 December 2013.
