6 October 2009: The International Labour Organization (ILO) has a launched a new project to reduce the impact of changing weather patterns on the local economy.

The three-year “Climate Resilient Farming Communities in Agusan del Norte through Innovative Risk Transfer Mechanisms” project is based in Jabonga, one of eleven towns in the Philippines’ Agusan del Norte province, where climate change is affecting communities that are largely dependent on agriculture and fisheries. The project is addressing climate change adaptation in all its dimensions, not only environmental but also social, economic and political, and is part of ILO’s global program on Green Jobs.
