IFC Staff Meet with Climate Science Experts
story highlights

International Finance Corporation (IFC) staff met with scientists from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) to learn about climate change science.

Information sharing with NCAR will allow the IFC to gain necessary insight into climate-friendly investments, as well as environmental products and services.

31 July 2012: Members of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) staff met with a group of climate scientists from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colorado, US, to gain knowledge about climate change and work towards making more climate-friendly investments.

The main message of the two-day course was that climate change is a result of human activities. Such changes have caused businesses, including the oil and gas industry, to reevaluate their operations, and have caused governments to address the changing environment’s impact on food, health and infrastructure. As such, information sharing with NCAR will allow the IFC to gain necessary insight into climate-friendly investments, as well as environmental products and services.

IFC is a member of the World Bank Group. [IFC Press Release]
