IFC Publishes Strategy to Engage Private Sector in Adaptation
story highlights

The report highlights the importance of the private sector's involvement in climate change adaptation in Bangladesh.

September 2010: The International Finance Corporation (IFC) published a report by Asian Tigers Capital Partners defining “A Strategy to Engage the Private Sector in Climate Change Adaptation in Bangladesh.”

The report highlights that involvement by the private sector is critical for Bangladesh to prepare for both the challenges and opportunities of climate change, noting that few companies have yet considered these. While much of this report underlines the benefit and importance of private sector engagement in the battle against climate change, it also highlights that corporate action on climate change is perceived to be either an irrelevance or at best an extension of businesses’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and proposes measures to change this perception.
