7 October 2009: The President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Kanayo Nwanze, attended the IMF/World Bank annual meeting held from 6-7 October 2009, in Istanbul, Turkey, to underscore the pivotal role of smallholder agriculture in addressing climate change, food security and poverty.

© IFAD7 October 2009: The President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Kanayo Nwanze, attended the IMF/World Bank annual meeting held from 6-7 October 2009, in Istanbul, Turkey, to underscore the pivotal role of smallholder agriculture in addressing climate change, food security and poverty.

Nwanze highlighted the role of the over 2 billion rural smallholder farmers in bringing about sustainable solutions for the future. He also received the MDG3 Torch from Danish Cooperation Minister Ulla Tørnæs, for IFAD, which commits the bearer to “Doing Something Extra” in support of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.
