IFAD Launches Support to Family Farming in Asia and Pacific

During a workshop held from 23-24 November 2013 in Bangkok, Thailand, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) launched its second phase of the Medium Term Cooperation Program, which seeks to support up to 20 million farmers across Asia and the Pacific through grants to Asian Farmers' Organizations.

IFAD26 November 2013: During a workshop held from 23-24 November 2013 in Bangkok, Thailand, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) launched its second phase of the Medium Term Cooperation Program, which seeks to support up to 20 million farmers across Asia and the Pacific through grants to Asian Farmers’ Organizations.

The $14 million grant builds on the first phase of the program, which developed national platforms for farmers’ organizations and targeted support to the vulnerable poor. Working through the Asian Farmers’ Associations for Sustainable Rural Development, the program will ultimately be extended to reach up to 25 countries across South Asia, East Asia and China and the Pacific.
