20 October 2013: At a forum on climate change, land and gender for the East and Southern Africa Division of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), regional and global staff worked to link IFAD’s global policy efforts to regional IFAD implementation in Africa.

From 16-18 October 2013, in Nairobi, Kenya, more than 30 development practitioners described the need to increase access to land and better integrate climate change and gender into IFAD programming. IFAD-Rome outlined investments in integrating climate change into programme cycles through the Adaptation for Smallholder Agriculture Program (ASAP).

Workshop participants also played the ‘River Climate Game’ developed by the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, where two “villages” make choices about crop planting and the adoption of new technologies.
