IEA’s Solar Heating and Cooling Programme January Newsletter Released

This issue of Solar Update discusses the results of a number of recently completed IEA tasks, an online checklist for selecting and successfully integrating such a solar system in buildings, and upcoming publications.

January 2011: The International Energy Agency’s (IEA) Solar Heating and Cooling Programme (SHC) has released the 53rd issue of its newsletter titled “Solar Update.”

This issue features an article on the SHC Solar Award winner, Helmut Jäger, founder and manager of Solvis Energyiesysteme GmbH. It also contains articles on: the activities of recently concluded IEA task 38 on Solar Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration; an online checklist for selecting and successfully integrating such a solar system in buildings; and the results of task 37 on advanced housing renovation with solar and conservation, which highlights five basic steps to reducing energy use through renovation and marketing renovation.

Other articles address: advancements in task 42’s field of compact thermal energy Storage; SHC in South Africa; the SHC market; new publications; and new research in 2011. [Publication: Solar Update Volume 53]
