IEA Workshop Explores Utility Activities within Photovoltaics

A workshop through the Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme (PVPS) of the International Energy Agency (IEA) gathered together experts and industry representatives to discuss utility activities within photovoltaics.

IEA19 April 2012: The Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme (PVPS) of the International Energy Agency (IEA) held a workshop, titled “Utility Activities Within Photovoltaics,” during which participants discussed current activities and future opportunities with regard to solar-generated electricity around the world.

The workshop, which took place in Stockholm, Sweden on 19 April, gathered together experts and industry representatives from energy and solar cell companies worldwide. Discussions covered, inter alia: news and numbers from the Swedish and world photovoltaic (PV) markets; PV from an investor’s perspective; and the challenges of high PV penetrations in distribution grids. Presentations by Swedish utilities representatives covered topics such as solar energy in sustainable cities and engaging consumers in micro-production. Presentations from international utilities representatives discussed PV in the context of Australia, Japan, Germany, Israel, Denmark and more. [Website] [Presentation documents]
