IEA Solar Heating and Cooling Workshop Highlights Exemplary Building Renovation Projects
story highlights

In addition to highlighting exemplary renovation projects from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy and Norway, the workshop also aimed to identify key market and policy issues as well as marketing strategies for such renovations, which are often resisted on financial and other grounds.

8 September 2012: The International Energy Agency (IEA) Solar Heating and Cooling Programme (SHC) held a workshop on retrofitting non-residential buildings and profiled renovation projects, which included case studies demonstrating how upgrading buildings can drastically reduce primary energy consumption while improving a building’s indoor climate.

The seminar focused on Task 47 of the SHC, whose objective is to develop a knowledge base on how to renovate non-residential buildings towards Net-Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) standards. Towards this goal, in addition to highlighting exemplary renovation projects from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy and Norway, the workshop also aimed to identify key market and policy issues as well as marketing strategies for such renovations, which are often resisted on financial and other grounds.
