© IEA September 2009: The International Energy Agency (IEA) has published a report entitled: “Energy Technology Transitions for Industry: Strategies for the Next Industrial Revolution.”

The report examines current and future technological possibilities to reduce global energy consumption in the five most energy intensive sectors: iron and steel; cement; chemicals and petrochemicals; pulp and paper; and aluminum, which account for 75% of global industrial CO2 emissions. The report regionally examines future energy transition scenarios to more efficient technologies in each of these sectors, developing new indicators and methodologies in the process. The report is one of three new sectoral end-use studies, with the other two focusing on energy transitions in transport and buildings. [Publication Website][Executive Summary][Press Release]
