8 June 2011: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Government of New Zealand and the Regional Fund for Agricultural Technology (Fontagro) have partnered to work on climate change mitigation and agriculture projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The project will improve national greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories and develop mitigation options adapted to the farming conditions of Argentina, Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay. Agriculture is one of the main contributor to GHG emissions in Latin America, with cattle production constituting an important source of methane emissions. [IDB Press Release]
