IDB and JBIC Sign MOU on Climate Cooperation in Latin America

The two banks agreed to establish the JBIC-IDB GREEN Co-financing Framework to proactively support projects that are critical to mitigating and adapting to climate change in Latin America and the Caribbean.

12 November 2010: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen cooperation in projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Latin America and the Caribbean.

In this context, JBIC and IDB have agreed to establish the JBIC-IDB GREEN Co-financing Framework to proactively support projects that are critical to mitigating and adapting to climate change in Latin America and the Caribbean, drawing on the Bank’s technical knowledge and experience in the region. Projects will include development of photovoltaic generation facilities and energy efficient power plants. [IDB Press Release]
