World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF)30 October 2013: The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) held a training-of-trainers workshop on participatory tools to address climate change exposure and adaptation, with representatives from eight development NGOs. The training focused on ICRAF’s ‘Talking Toolkit: How smallholder farmers and local governments can together adapt to climate change.’

The toolkit was developed to aid researchers, development practitioners and government policy makers in communicating with local populations on adaptive capacity and the role of trees for adaptation. The training workshop revealed the need for follow-up training on data analysis for how the results generated from the toolkit can be analyzed and how land-use planning and adaptation can be mainstreamed in socioeconomic development plans.

The training, which took place in Hanoi, Viet Nam, was funded through the Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security Program (CCAFS) of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
