ICCWC12 May 2014: The International Consortium on Combating Wildlife Crime (ICCWC) has launched a web portal to support capacity-building through improved access to information. The portal provides information on the ICCWC tools available to national enforcement agencies and regional enforcement networks for addressing poaching and illicit trade in wildlife and forest products.

The portal also links to other materials provided by ICCWC partners, such as the courses of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) Virtual College, Customs e-learning resources of the World Customs Organization (WCO), and global communication and information-exchange tools managed by INTERPOL and WCO. John Scanlon, Secretary-General of CITES, in announcing the launch, praised the role of ICCWC in enhancing national and regional capacity and cooperation to combat wildlife and forest crime.

ICCWC is a collaboration between the CITES Secretariat, INTERPOL, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the World Bank and WCO. [CITES News] [ICCWC Web Portal]
