Global Green Growth Initiative Appoints New Director-General

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) has appointed Ambassador Howard Bamsey of Australia as its new Director-General, beginning on 15 April 2013.

Bamsey will work towards developing and consolidating GGGI as the focal point for international green growth policy.

Bamsey succeeds Richard Samans, who returns to the World Economic Forum.

15 April 2013: The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) has appointed Ambassador Howard Bamsey of Australia as its new Director-General, beginning on 15 April 2013. Bamsey will work towards developing and consolidating GGGI as the focal point for international green growth policy. Bamsey succeeds Richard Samans, who returns to the World Economic Forum.

Bamsey most recently served as the Special Advisor to the Australian Government on Green Growth, and played an active role in the GGGI Council as Australia’s alternate delegate and as a Member of the Transitional Sub-Committee, which facilitated the transition of GGGI to an international organization.

GGGI works with partners in the public and private sectors in developing and emerging countries to place green growth at the center of economic planning. [GGGI Press Release]
