Germany Commits Funding to FCPF

The Government of Germany has contributed a total of €84 million to the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF), in support of activities to reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation and the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks in developing countries (REDD+).

World Bank16 December 2011: The World Bank has reported that the Government of Germany has added €30 million, for a total of €84 million, to its financial commitments to the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF).

Hosted at the World Bank, the FCPF is a global partnership dedicated to reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, and the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks in developing countries (REDD+). The FCPF’s two funds, the Readiness Fund and the Carbon Fund have been expanded to $300 million and $350 million, respectively, to enable the private sector and governments to contribute additional resources to the two funds.
