20 January 2011: The Group on Earth Observation (GEO) has released the January issue of its newsletter, “GEO News,” which includes an article on creating a bioenergy atlas of Africa.
The article on the creation of a bioenergy atlas of Africa indicates it is based on the recognition that the continent, with its warm climate and abundant natural resources, has the potential to become a major player in the production of bioenergy. This 12th issue also features a story on the release by SoDa Service of the HelioClim-1 database, which contains 21 years of data of interest for Africa, the Mediterranean Basin, and the Central Atlantic Ocean that can be of use for electricity production or climate studies.
