The booklet contains several examples of projects in the land degradation focal area and notes synergies in combating climate change.
Land degradation affects more than 33 percent of the planet’s surface area, leading to deterioration of ecosystem services and negative consequences for 2.6 billion people in more than 100 countries. The goal of the focal area strategy is to contribute to arresting and reversing current global trends in land degradation, specifically desertification and deforestation. [ The Booklet]
