13feb09-reem09-tn0February 2009: The Global Environment Facility (GEF) is co-organizing a conference on “Implementation of Renewable Energy in the Emerging Markets of Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean 2009 (REEM09),” which is scheduled to take place from 27-29 April 2009, in San Francisco, US.

The event is expected to bring together a variety of stakeholders and address numerous renewable energy technologies including: wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, biofuels and hydrogen. Additionally, it will provide policy makers from emerging markets the opportunity to share experiences with market-enabling policies and incentives abundant in the US that can be replicated in their home countries. The GEF, along with the US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and several US agencies, is part of the Conference Host Committee. [Conference website]
