Fraunhofer Announces the Release of Photovoltaic Charts for Comparing Solar Cells
story highlights

The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) has developed a new and comprehensive list, refered to as “Fraunhofer ISE PV-Charts,” which compares the performance of different solar cell types; ranks solar cells according to their efficiency; and provides information from the manufacturer on the different cell technologies.

25 September 2012: The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE) has developed a new and comprehensive list called “Fraunhofer ISE Photovoltaic (PV)-Charts,” which compares the performance of different solar cell types. The Fraunhofer ISE PV-Charts will rank solar cells according to their efficiency and provide information from the manufacturer on the different cell technologies.

Stefan Glunz, Fraunhofer ISE’s Division Director for Silicon Solar Cells, informs that the goal of the PV-Charts is to compile a comprehensive list for comparing all types of solar cells, which will keep up with the newest technologies. In addition to the cell efficiency, the Fraunhofer ISE PV-Charts will also present an overview on the different cell designs that are used in the solar cell production by the various manufacturers.

Fraunhofer ISE is calling on solar cell manufacturers, long-term partners and new customers to name record-breaking solar cell results for publication in the PV-Charts. These will be published on the Fraunhofer ISE website for viewing and a template for presenting the records can be found at www.pv-charts.com.

Fraunhofer ISE is an Associate Member of the Global Network on Energy for Sustainable Development (GNESD), a UN Environment Programme (UNEP)-facilitated knowledge network on energy, development and environment issues. [Fraunhofer ISE Press Release]
